25 Weeks Pregnant: 3 Things to Expect

You're 25 weeks pregnant now and a lot is going on inside your belly. Baby's respiratory system is working hard at getting ready for air, and his little arms and legs are strong enough that you're feeling more movement than ever. Read on to find out what else to expect from your 25th week!

  1. Smell Ya Later!
  2. a baby boy picking his nose

While your baby has been steadily growing, not all of his systems are in working order yet. This week he takes another step toward being ready for the outside—his nose is ready to work! Until now his nostrils have been plugged, but this week, his nostrils have opened. That means his nose is almost ready for breathing and smelling.

  3. Blood Vessels are Forming in Baby's Lungs
  4. a doctor listening to a baby's heart rate

Since your baby doesn't need to use her lungs while in utero, they are still slowly developing. At week 25 her lungs are forming the blood vessels necessary for the movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Her lungs won't be mature for another 11 weeks, but her respiratory system is getting ready for life on the outside.

  5. Feeling Movements and Kicks is Routine Now
  6. a pregnant woman lying down on a recliner

This is the time during pregnancy when you'll begin to notice kicks and movements on a more regular basis. Your baby is over 13 inches long now and his legs and arms are stronger than ever. If you have an anterior (in the front) placenta you'll really begin to notice a difference as he becomes longer and stronger every day.
