How to Celebrate Baby's First Valentines Day

It's your baby's first Valentine's Day, so make it one to remember! Check out these 10 fun ways to celebrate the day and the overwhelming love you have for your newest sweetheart.

  1. Send Some Baby Love

It's so cute to make or buy Valentines and send them out to your baby's sweeties – think grandparents, aunts and uncles, tiny baby friends. After all, who wouldn't want to receive a love note from your adorable little one? Create cards of your own design or head over to Pinterest for ideas.

  3. Take Dad to Lunch
  4. a family having lunch out together

If your guy works while you're at home, make plans for a special lunch or dinner date with you and your baby. A mid-shift visit from his baby girl or boy will brighten his day and make Valentine's Day extra special for everyone.

  5. Red, White and Pink It Up

Of course you'll want to dress your little in the colors of the day. The stores are filled with special Valentine's-themed outfits, or just go shopping in your baby's drawers for outfits in shades of red, white, and pink (bonus for ribbons and lace!).

  7. Start Something Growing
  8. a person holding a seedling in some dirt

Start a seedling in a small pot indoors to symbolize the love you have for your brand-new baby. Choose something you can relocate outdoors when the weather allows, or    buy a sweet potted plant that you can nurture with the same heart you do your baby.

  9. Make Handprint Art

Preserve the memory of your baby's tiny hands and feet through handprint art. You can go simple with a painted print or make a plaster print for something more ambitious and permanent.

  11. Visit the Conservatory

If your town has a conservatory, Valentine's Day is the perfect time to visit with your baby and sweetie. Your little one will love looking at the beautiful, brightly colored flowers; maybe they'll even have roses, that symbol of love. Bonus: because the cozy green houses are always nice and warm, they're especially lovely to visit on a cold winter's day!

  13. Start a Tradition

It's your first year with your love bug, a great time to start traditions. Maybe you'll get your baby girl a charm bracelet and add a new charm each year (wait until she's three and it's no longer a choking hazard before giving it to her). Or consider starting a special brag book about your little guy, to fill with pics and memories,  and make long-term plans to give it to his spouse-to-be many years in the future. Anything to record the sweet, sweet love you feel for your little one right now!

  15. Write a Love Letter

You didn't know you could love anything so much; now's the time to pour all of that adoration into a letter to reread to your baby on Valentine's Days in the future. It's something you will both treasure forever!

  17. Do a Special Valentine's Day Photo Shoot

To capture baby's first Valentine's Day, our parent photography expert suggests taking a fun self-portrait of you and your beloved little one, and including your spouse/partner and the entire family if you can! The forward facing camera on your iPhone or other mobile device is perfect for this, or ask someone else to take the picture for you. Remember, it doesn't have to be a perfect photo – it's the love that counts, and the photo will help you remember the moment.

  19. Just Go Adorable

Valentine's Day is the sweetest holiday and you have the sweetest baby; combine the two in special Valentine's Day-themed clothing that is too adorable to pass up. We're partial to these bloomers available on Etsy, they're so cute!
