8 Things to Know About Your Libra Child

If your baby was born between September 23rd and October 22nd, her astrological sign is Libra. From being incredibly social to musically gifted, there's a lot to love about these autumnal babies.

Here's what you'll need to know about being this one's mama!

1. Libras Can Be Indecisive

Born under the sign of the scales, Libras are known for weighing all options. Your little one will be slow to choose whether she wants carrots or apples—she knows both are great, so how can she possibly choose? Be supportive of her indecisiveness; it will take longer for her to make a decision, but she'll only know she's doing the right thing if she isn't rushed.

2. They're the Life of the Party

Libras love to be the center of attention. With an innate sense of humor and a desire to be sociable, his shining personality will make him a fun child to be around. Your job as the parent of a little Libra is to help him realize when he needs to reign in his bubbliness—it's easy for him to get caught up in the moment and miss the occasional social cue.

3. Librans are Peacekeepers

Your little Libra is a born diplomat. His ability to weigh both sides of an argument without choosing sides makes him the perfect playground peacekeeper. Since he's so easily able to see the right and wrong on each side it makes him extremely uncomfortable around true conflict—while it's normal to have an occasional disagreement with your spouse, be extra careful to show your Libra that you've made up and everything is ok when you're done.

4. Music is in Their Souls

Is your Libra baby having an epic cry and you have no idea how to soothe him? Turn on some tunes and have a singalong. Libras tend to feel music more than others, so if you find a genre he seems to gravitate toward, put it on for him often. As he ages he'll likely show an interest in an instrument (or three, because, indecisive), so help to nurture his interests by enthusiastically listening to his musical attempts, no matter how painful to the ear; Libras are smart, so he'll get better soon.

5. They're Generous to a Fault

Whoever the first woman was to give another person the shirt off her back, she was surely a Libra. In her deep desire to see everyone safe and happy she'll quickly give anything and everything she can to make it so. Keep an eye on her precious belongings and her piggy bank—she won't bat an eye at giving it all away just to see somebody smile. Don't discourage her generous nature, just guide her toward not being so giving that she's left with nothing.

6. Time Management is an Issue

He's not lazy or rude, he's just so into playing and socializing that time gets away from him. Libras have a tendency to not appreciate exactly how long it takes to do something; help him understand that just because it takes 10 minutes to get somewhere doesn't mean he doesn't need to get ready until 10 minutes before an appointment. Give him consequences for being late when he's young to help foster an understanding that being on time is important.

7. They Crave Companionship

At the root of her sociability and great conversational skills is the fact that she really just doesn't want to be alone. She would much rather do anything than play by herself. Do what you can to help her socialize—take her to the park, sign her up for dance or sports, and encourage her to volunteer as she gets older. You will need to talk to her often about being safe around strangers, though—her desire to please people and be around others can override her "stranger danger" sometimes. Help her to have an internal voice that guides her to safety and she'll be fine.

8. They're Great Conversationalists

Part of what makes Libras such social butterflies is their need to verbally communicate. The Libra baby will delight in watching you form sounds and words and will quickly coo along. As your child ages you'll notice she's a bit of a chatterbox. Conversations are what help a Libra form her ideas and find her way in the world, so try your hardest to engage her whenever she needs—the best way to show you care is to take part in a good talk.
