Dipped fruit
Nature’s sweets all dressed up
Chocolate-dipped fruit is a classic, well-balanced treat for toddlers and kids - and it’s so easy to make! Just melt chocolate chips in a double boiler (or fit a heat-resistant bowl over a pot of boiling water and stir the chips constantly till melted), then dip fruit (any fruit will do—get creative!) in the liquid chocolate. Lay your fruit on a plate or cookie sheet covered with wax paper and refrigerate until the chocolate hardens. Consider using antioxidant-rich dark chocolate and sprinkling older-kid portions with chopped nuts for a nutrition boost.
For kids 8- to 12-months or toddlers who don’t yet eat chocolate, coat the fruit with a thin layer of softened cream cheese and roll in either shredded coconut that’s been pulsed in the food processor, crushed O’s or even wheat germ seasoned with cinnamon.
