Halloween Treats for Babies

Whether you're trying to play good witch to a sweet-toothed baby, his older sib or the little trick-or-treaters who'll come knocking, you're probably looking for that middle ground between boring carrot chips and a total sugar high. For a fun, festive - and healthy - Halloween, try these quick and easy baby treats. They'll satisfy candy-crazed kids as well.

Trail Mix Goody Bags

Customize by age and decorate to suit

Making your own trail mix takes hardly any time and gives you the option to include age-appropriate ingredients.

Feeding a finger-food savvy 8- to 10-month-old? Mix up some freeze-dried fruit, broken up teething biscuits, and O’s cereal that's been toasted in the oven with a drizzle of melted butter and a shake of cinnamon.

For 12-month-olds and up, add chopped walnuts to the mix as long as you’ve successfully introduced tree nuts.

Older toddlers and big kids? Throw in some raisins, chocolate chips and pretzels.

If you're up for it, paste a baby ghost or other Halloween decoration on each paper sandwich bag. Right before your Halloween event, drop a handful of trail mix into each bag, and tie it with a ribbon. Then pile the treat bags into a decorative bowl or basket and hand them out.
