The Lady Bugs


Make a cluster of lady bug cupcakes for your little... bug

Ingredients:
Fondant – ready-to-roll, in white (if you can't find it locally, get it here; or use marzipan)
Chocolate M&Ms
Edible glitter or sparkling sugar
Food coloring (if your fondant or marzipan is white)
A round cookie cutter, small for mini cupcakes and medium for regular ones; or a drinking glass

1. Ice as many regular-size or mini cupcakes as you'll need, using basic vanilla butter cream icing or cream cheese icing (see below).
2. Take a small amount of fondant or marzipan and knead with some red food coloring. Knead another small amount with black food coloring
3. Take your red fondant (or marzipan) and roll it out on a board lightly dusted with confectioner's sugar.
4. Using your cookie cutter or drinking glass, cut cupcake-sized circles to place on top of each cupcake.
5. Take a small amount of white fondant (or marzipan) and roll it into tiny balls to attach as eyes to each cupcake.
6. Use a small amount of black fondant (or marzipan) and roll it into two 1-inch-thin strips and attach as antennae.
7. Use the chocolate M&Ms as lady bug dots.
8. Add red or white edible glitter or sparkling sugar for a little flash!
