Say NO to Skinny Fat
Posted by Nicole Symmonds
It should come as no surprise when I tell you that about 34% of American adults are clinically obese.
WHY? Because we’ve been told this statistic over and over in the past few years.
America is fat.
What you might not know is that while there are many overweight people, there are also many “skinny fat” people walking around.
What is Skinny Fat?
The term “skinny fat” is used to describe a person who is thin but under-muscled. Someone who is skinny in appearance and looks good in clothes, but not healthy when it comes to indicators such as body fat percentage.
“Skinny fats” are most often people who maintain a strict diet, but fail to exercise.
Ladies, the aim for Summer Of Strong is the OPPOSITE of obese. It is also the opposite of “skinny fat.”
Our focus here is NOT on 100-calorie packs or long hours of cardio. Our focus is NOT counting calories, but on getting stronger and fueling our bodies with whole foods. Rest assured, if the focus is on strength, you WILL lose weight, but in a much healthier way.
Truth be told, I want you guys to look good NAKED. Yes, I said naked. To have a healthy body fat percentage and look strong and fit!
In order to achieve that strong physique, you simply must strength train. Which is what we’re going to do!!
For this week’s workout, we’re going to focus on building more muscle by lifting heavier. If you don’t own a pair of heavier dumbbells, find something around the house that can substitute, such as a heavy resistance band or water bottles filled with sand. If you have a sports equipment store nearby that sells used goods (think Play It Again Sports), check out their inventory and buy yourself some 15-25 pound dumbbells.
Let’s MOVE!
What You’ll Need
