What Makes You Join an Online Community?

Granted, I'm writing you from a parenting website--it's my job to do so--but I'm curious, what brought you here?

What brings moms to online community websites like this one? I'm guessing, but not assuming, it is because websites like this provide a sense of understanding. Many moms feel that having support dealing with the ins and outs of parenting makes it a whole lot easier managing the days.

Or you have questions about the first year after having a child... I know I started joining parenting sites to network with our mothers and fathers who could join me in a cry or a laugh over what just happened in my household. As parents, it's pretty natural to want other parents around... even if that means it doesn't happen in person.

So, I ask... What brought you here?
