It's Day 1 of the Mom365 Summer Fitness Challenge. We've asked our favorite mom fitness bloggers to come up with a challenge each - which gives you 5 days of challenges to kick-start your summer. Plus, on Day 5, we'll have an awesome giveaway for everyone who's taken each days challenge. Scroll all the way down to learn more.

Day 1 with Lindsay of Lindsay's List

Hey Mamas!! Welcome to the 365 Summer Fitness Challenge!! Whether you’re an expert at doing burpees or you think that a burpee is a baby accessory, today’s workout is just perfect for YOU!

My name is Lindsay Wright and I blog at Lindsay’s List, a healthy-living blog where I share my life as a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, group fitness instructor and mommy to two toddlers.

Let me tell you, life is BUSY. And busting at the seams with great, great things!

Exercise just happens to be one of them.

Having been a mom for nearly 4 years, I understand how hard it can be to get back into the gym. When you’ve got little ones, our attention and effort immediately goes to them (as it should).

But I believe it’s vital that we all take a little time each day for ourselves. I don’t like the label “me time”, because that implies selfishness. What I’m talking about is something that’s not only beneficial to ourselves but also to our family. To our children who need us to be strong and fit so that we can play countless games of leap frog with them (for what seems like an eternity). And for our spouses who appreciate the effort we put into making our bodies fit and attractive.

Exercise can do this for us. Spark a desire to be better, physically and mentally!

Now that we know WHY we should exercise, let’s talk about HOW.

Today I’ve got a fun workout for you guys. It’s challenging, you’ll burn TONS of calories and, get this, you can complete it in only 20 minutes (giving you plenty of time to wash the dishes…or not). I’ve designed it so that you’re getting the most calorie bang for your buck – just keep moving through the exercises and give it all you’ve got! We can do anything for 20 minutes (remember the leap frogging!)

The 365 SUMMER FITNESS CHALLENGE! Day 1

What you’ll need:

A jump rope, a sturdy chair and a stopwatch. That’s it!

Equipment tips: If you don’t own a jump rope, that’s fine! Just pretend like you do! Also, I use the Gymboss Interval timer on my iPhone. It’s FREE. You can also use the free online-stopwatch.

I’ve created TWO variations – one beginner and one intermediate. Select the workout that applies to your fitness level!

Now let’s donate some jeans…

**For video demonstrations of some of the plyometric exercises, please visit my Tuesday Trainer site, where I post a new workout every Tuesday!!**

How often should I perform this workout?

Every other day, giving your body at least 24 hours to repair your muscles. If you’re goal is weight loss, I suggest you that you aim to walk or jog for 30 minutes on the days in between.

Remember to take ONE FULL DAY of rest each week. This gives your central nervous system a chance to reboot and repair.

Who should perform this workout?

Every single person ever.

I can’t wait to hear how this workout goes for you guys! Please leave a comment below and tell me more about your fitness history and when you complete the workout, let me know what you think!

Until next time – Lindsay
